SPRING CLEAN UP DATE: APRIL 25
It's time for our spring clean-up! Join us on Saturday, April 25 (the rain date will be April 26) at 9 am.
Please bring rakes and gloves.
Check at the clubhouse for priority tasks.
We need 10 people to launch the boat and 4-5 people with wetsuits to put in the dock. Note that volunteers with wetsuits will get double the volunteer hours. Please contact dinghyrat@waterrats.ca and kgbrown100@gmail.com to arrange.
We also need a few more people for lunch prep. Please contact partyrat@waterrats.ca for information.
We need volunteers to bring sanders to clean up the picnic tables. Please get in touch with groundsrat@waterrats.ca.
There will be a special AGM after lunch at 1 pm.
The board has approved a capital spending item of over $10,000 and requires membership approval to proceed.
The plan is to install a water system with grey water capture for the purpose of hand washing, washing dishes and irrigation. The cost is estimated to be up to $14,000.
Members who attend the meeting only will receive one work hour. And of course, submit your total hours if you also contribute to the grounds cleanup.
Hope to see you there!
2025 MEMBERSHIP SURVEY
The results of the membership survey are shown below. The results represent a “net promoter score” which shows the number of people who are happy less those that are unhappy. It ranges from -1 to +1 with positive numbers indicating that more members are happy than unhappy

We were pleased to learn that most of the responses were positive. There are a only few issues where members are less happy. Last year we asked members if they would be interested in paying for a higher quality washroom service if it raised the membership fee, and the majority response was no, so we didn’t proceed. If members have any suggestions on how to improve the washroom situation at a lower cost, please contact body@waterrats.ca.
We asked two additional questions on the survey:
What level of activity should be sufficient to maintain membership?
92% of members thought that boats should be used a minimum of 2 times per year, and 40% thought that at least 6 times should be the minimum. This shows that the vast majority of members want to see the club’s boats used.
Did members have difficulty accessing the club and by which means?
45% of members responding to the survey said they had difficulty accessing the club with the digital key. There were two users who had difficulty using the fob. Please contact body@waterrats.ca if you had a fob issue so that we can investigate further. Clearly a lot of members had problems with the digital key, and we’re very sorry for the hassles that caused. We’re going to continue to take steps to fix the issues. The lock does record when someone is denied access, making it easier for us to keep track of it.
IMPORTANT CHANGE TO MEMBERSHIP RULES
We would like to point out that we have an active use policy at our club.
Members are expected to be on the water at least three times per season. All members are required to submit one photo of themselves on the water by July 31 for each boat that they are storing. We will have more information on where to upload the photos soon.
If you require an exception with regards to our active use policy please reach out to body@waterrats.ca.
